FAQ - Specialist Eye Vet - NQ

FAQs

Referral by your regular vet is preferable but not essential.

The initial consultation fee is $341, plus any medications prescribed. A follow-up consultation is $220 plus any medications.

A consultation generally takes 20 -30 minutes. After reviewing the clinical history your pet’s eyes will be examined and any appropriate medical or surgical treatment options discussed. Follow up consultations generally take 10 -15 minutes.

All consultations are by appointment only. You can telephone or email for an appointment time. You will need to know the nature of the eye problem (e.g., cataracts, red eye, eye injury) so we can prioritize cases.

We try to accommodate same day surgery for clients that have travelled a long distance or where surgery is urgent. However, we cannot guarantee surgery on the same day. Cataract surgery is generally not performed on the same day due to the logistics involved.

Full payment is required at the completion of your consultation. A 50% deposit of the total estimate of costs will be required If your pet is admitted for treatment or surgery. The balance of the charges are payable at the time of discharge. We accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express and cash.

Generally, we recommend that your pet is not given any food for six hours prior to a consultation in case a same day procedure is recommended. An exception is a diabetic pet – please feed and give insulin as normal.

You will need to bring along copies of any medical records you have and any current medications your pet is receiving.
